My day with the Losers

Ok guys and gals, I know that's it been a few days. . . but. . . I had to get my pictures uploaded so that I can show you what happened on Feb 20th. Above you will see pictures of me with 8 of my newest friends! Now if you have been watching NBC's "The Biggest Loser", then you will most definitely recognize these faces! I had a blast learning so much from them, and as a result I have launched Power of 10 Fitness! My goal is to reach our youth, and to educate them about having a healthy lifestyle!! I still have a long way to go to reach my weight loss goal, but I am so far away from the 400's that I am not ever looking back! My current weight is 325, and I can see the 200's coming to my body real soon!

Keep watching and following my journey and Remember that Life Starts When You Start Living!!

326 pounds

In 6 hours and 30 minutes, I will be meeting with 8 contestants from NBC's The Biggest Loser. . . and I now weigh 326 pounds. That's a whopping 64 pounds since trying out for the show. As I think about what I'm going to say tomorrow. . . all I can do is look back at the old pictures of my former self. What happened to make me gain all that weight in the first place? What was so wrong in my life that I had to be in a self-induced coma of over-eating? I don't honestly know all the answers to why I gained all that weight, but what I do know is that the old way of doing things did not work for me at all. I'm nervous about meeting the contestants of the show tomorrow because part of me still feels like I failed. I know it seems silly, but think about it. My one hope and dream was to be on the show, and I did not get that opportunity. Strangely, I have to face some of my fears tomorrow when meeting with them because they got through to be a contestant on the show. They got the golden ticket, and I was left watching from the sidelines. Sounds like a pity party right? Well, the truth is we do this to ourselves all the time. Whoopi Goldberg once said that "Things in life that happen are the result of silly little coincidences." For example, Pete Thomas was grocery shopping today in Kyle, and I got up the courage to go up and talk to him. Now, mind you, I was not properly dressed. . . but then again who is when they are just out running errands. . . anyway. . .he took the time to get to know me. . . and you know what I think that we shared a moment or was it a funny little coincident? I am humbled and honored to meet with the contestants from the show, and maybe just maybe I have inspired them as much as they have already inspired me! Congrats. . . sincerely. . . on getting the golden ticket!!

The truth is that we all posess the golden ticket for success. A show does not do it. Having money does not do it. Having things handed to you does not do it. All things are possible with God. Phillipians 4:13 says that "I can do all things through Christ that gives me strength." Period. He is our golden ticket, and I'm so blessed to be able to let His light shine through me tomorrow.

God Bless and

331, 2 pounds away from 320's

Hey guys and gals, I will be in the 320's by the end of this week. It has been 4 or 5 years since I have seen this number. With everyday workouts of 1 to 2 hours a day, a healthy diet, and not to forget a awesome sponsorship with Anytime Fitness in San Marcos. . . I can just see the pounds melt away. . . once and for all! It was real easy to get discouraged in the first week of working out because I gained 7 pounds, but after tweaking my diet to fit the workout, the weight has just been falling off!! I love to go grocery shopping now for foods that are healthy to eat, and the great thing about it is that it's cheaper to buy healthier foods. We spend an average of 40 to 100 dollars a week in eating out, but how awesome is it to put that money into your pocket and eat healthy! To show you that it can be done, I have included one my newest recipes to get things started for you. I'm sure your mouth will be watering when you hear what I made. . . so here it is. . .

Erik Chase's Crazy Make You Wanna Cry Cause It's So Good Italian Chicken

4-6 small chicken breasts
1 green bell pepper
1 large sweet white onion
1 garlic bundle (about 9-12 cloves, I know cause I cut it myself)
1 large red tomato
1/3 cup Italian bread crumbs
2 cups low-fat mozzarella cheese
1 tsp of seasoning salt for chicken
1 tsp of italian spices/seasoning for chicken

It's As easy as 1-2-3

1)Cook 4-6 chicken breasts until thouroughly cooked all the way through, you'll know when inside is as white as the outside. Then slice chicken into cubes and put them back on the grill at a low heat setting.

2)Add 1 tsp of seasoning salt and italian spices evenly on all sides of chicken breasts

3)Chop onion, tomato, bell pepper, and garlic. Then add vegetables to
chicken in order to sautee vegetables and blend in the natural flavors in with the chicken breasts.

4)Add 1/3 cup italian breads crumbs to mixture and stir in all ingredients.

5) Lastly, top it off with low fat mozzarella cheese and ENJOY!!!

This whole meal will cost you about $10.00 and it will feed 4-6 people!!

And now for my exit,

It's been fun cooking with you. . . Until next time. . .

Detox, round 2

Hey guys and gals, I started a 2 week body cleanse. . . the Jillian Michaels one today. The good news, is that I don't have to fast with this one. The bad news, is I still have to take those wonderfully flavored horse pills (4 a day). It will help not only with the weight loss, but also with cleaning my body out! I'm looking forward to the results. I will be increasing my workouts to 2 hours a day, can you feel the burn? With a six pound weight gain, supposedly muscle, I have to continue to be consistent with my training. I know that the results will come, and that's what we will talk about today. Results. . . I have come up with a little acronym for this word that will help keep you motivated to stick with your weight loss journey.

R is for Routine
E is for Exercise
S is for Strengthens
U is for Us for
L is for Long
T is for Term
S is for Success

What's that spell RESULTS!!!

Keep chugging along and the weight will come off!

Keep watching as I get ready for the ride of my life on April 11th when I participate in the Capital 10K in Austin!!!

5 pounds of muscle?

Ok guys and gals, watching the NBC "The Biggest Loser", and realizing that they leave out one very crucial point. When you work muscles you haven't worked in a really really really long time, you can gain weight initially. That's what happened to me, I've been told by my trainer at Anytime Fitness. Thanks for the warning, all the while I'm wondering if the scale was pranked and I was on some type of hidden camera show. So as my body gets used to the workout regiment it will correct itself, and that's a good thing because I don't want to be the half-ton muscled bound man!!

In twelve short days, I will be having my picture taking with 8 contestants of the Biggest Loser, and I am so excited. I believe that God opens doors that no one can shut and closes doors that no one can open. I'm just going to the ride the tide, if it's ok with you!

My trainer's name is Brian

Hey guys and gals, today was the day that I got my butt kicked. . . physically! I went this morning for my first workout session with Brian. Man oh man, buff guys make it look so easy don't they. Wrong-o! I learned today that it takes a lot of discipline to be in shape. It's deffinitely not for the faint of heart. I learned that circuits are not just a bunch of wires in an electrical device, but a round of gruling, taxing endurance and strenght training. We lifted weights, I walked up hills, and all the while I could feel the pounds just shedding off. How invigorating to be able to work with someone that has only one job, to get you to physically fit! Thanks Brian for the workout and I can't wait for the next gauntlet of exercise to come. Tomorrow I rest with cardio and then I hit the weights again on Saturday!!

Keep watching as Erik Chase "Kyle's Biggest Loser" sheds the pounds and gets ready for the Capital 10k in April. Mark your calendars for April 11th!!

Capital K in April

Hey guys and girls, pray for me. . . please!! What have I signed myself up for. . . you guessed it. . . put it on your calendars. . . is the suspense killing you? Okay, enough with the climatic antics and on with the show. . . on April 11, 2010, I will be competing in the Capital 10k in Austin TX!!! That gives me 2 and 1/2 months to get physically fit for my first marathon! It's something that I have always wanted to do, but have never been able to do it. . . or so I thought! Remember that in life you are only limited by your own limitations, it's just a marathon right? Kind of symbolic of our lives don't you think. Our lives are not races to be won, they are marathons to endure. Endurance creates resilliancy and with resilliance, dexterity follows. Talk about a great way to build up your character and to get heart healthy at the same time. Walk fellow bloggers, there is a whole world out there for you to see!!

Weight loss to date: 56lbs
My goal before April 11th: 60 more pounds
That will put me at 274lbs!!!

Up and Down on the Scale

We have all been there, lose a few pounds gain it back. Lose some more. . . gain it back. . . but what if we could just keep it off. No one said that dieting would be easy, but as we look at our overindulgence, we have to take a good look at ourselves. Our pocket books become empty and all the while we are trying to fill a hunger that won't go away. Why? Why are we constantly pushing the limits of our belt size? Because it's the only thing that we can control. . . or is it? I have been asking myself this question as I get ready for an intensive workout regiment. God has blessed me with an opportunity to represent Kyle at Anytime Fitness and I am nervous about failing. Just being honest, but nerves are good. It tells us that we still have some breath in our body and that the blood is pumping. Which means I'm not dead yet. . . and as I watched yesterday's episode of The Biggest Loser, I'm reminded of how blessed I am. These people do not realize what it took to get out of bed that day when I decided to audition for the show, or if they have they have seriously forgotten about the thousands upon thousands of people that would kill to be in their shoes. Let this be a lesson to all of you who read my blog, don't give up when dissappointment in life happens. It's when we give up that we hit the scale at 415lbs, a 54in waist, and pre-death. At least that was my story, now I'm taking what I have learned from my experience trying out for the Biggest Loser and taking it to the next level. Who needs a show to lose weight anyway, I can lose weight Anytime! So get off that couch, stop eating those bon-bons, and work out with me. I pledge to lose 100 lbs this year and run that 5k by August!!

You too can be a Loser. . . after all losers win in the end!!
